Hey, Peeps –
No column today. Or for the next several weeks. After 9 3/4 years of putting out a column every week, I decided it was time for a self-imposed break.
We all just need a vacation once in awhile.

But Cheryl, we won’t get to read your complaints about cold and winter! lol Enjoy your time off.
I think Cheryl and I should have a seasonal column together where I extol the virtues of winter while she laments about the cold, grey days. Then in the summer we could do one where she extols the virtues of summer, while I whine about the oppressive, humid, unrelenting, hell we call Kansas.
Enjoy!
Really going to miss ya! Have a great vacation but hurry back.
It is a well deserved break. Hope you can relax, have fun and re-energize. We’ll miss you and await your return.
Oh, gosh. Now I’m going to have to wait to tell you all about my trip to your fine state, and how I used this fine blog to prepare, and what fun I had in Council Grove, and Cottonwood Falls, and Fox School, and Ad Astra, and the Emma Chase (where in your honor I took a picture of my meal before I ate it!)
It was a wonderful trip and I hope to be back soon. I’ve tracked down my gr-great-grandmother’s best friend’s grave outside the no-longer existent Poplar Hill, and have a small chunk of the Flint Hills sitting right next to me as a reminder that my next trip can’t come soon enough.
Happy sabbatical!
Linda,
I am so touched by your letter – so glad that you came to Kansas and visited some of the places that are dear to my heart – and photographed your meal at the Emma Chase!
Your trip sounds like a lot of fun! I’m happy that you had a good time here.
I’m just taking a month off. Just need time for my brain not to think about column writing for awhile. 🙂
Thanks so much for your note. It made my day!
Cheryl
Thanks, everyone, for your notes of kindness and support! I’ll be back soon, just need a break!
Have a great break! Hope it’s for great reasons.
Hey – long time no hear!
Glad to hear you’ll be back soon. Enjoy your time off!
Absence will make the heart grow fonder. We look forward to your return! Enjoy your time away from us!
Cheryl
Enjoy the break. Looking forward to your columns after the holidays. Emporia and the Gazette need your distinct, wonderful voice.
