old Goessel State Bank building
If you’re out and about on Saturday and in the Goessel area looking for something to do, stop by the Mennonite Heritage Museum – it’s Threshing Days.
Inside the old Goessel State Bank on the museum grounds (which is air-conditioned, I am told), I will be reading from Flyover People: Life on the Ground in a Rectangular State at 1 p.m. and signing books afterwards. at 2:30, another Kansas writer, Robert Collins of Andover, will give a presentation about Ghost Railroads in Kansas.
Here’s a list of the day’s events at the museum – including the Low German meal at the Goessel Elementary School.
And here’s a list of the threshing/farming events on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
