Hundred of cyclists await the 6:00 a.m. start time in downtown Emporia this morning for the Dirty Kanza 200 – a 200 mile-ride through the hot and windy Flint Hills. The old record is 11 hours and some odd minutes and the announcer said they expected the roads to be faster this year, the gravel roads are hard-packed from previous rains.

About 350 cyclists are participating in the event.

I don’t know the entire route, but I heard that first it heads through Cassoday, then through Florence and then Council Grove, but that’s only like the first half of it….
