Dave and I were returning to Emporia after a family dinner in Salina this evening. As we approached Council Grove I recalled that the “Gathering in the Grove” was going on tonight. So we stopped. It’s an art show/sale at the old Carnegie building at 207 W. Main Street. The place was packed with people and with art.

It was about 7 p.m., but the town was alive. Stores were open and horse-drawn carriage rides were being given. Apparently the town had turned on their Christmas lights this evening and the town was full of charm. And horses.

Since Valerie’s Gifts and Such was open, I stopped by to see if she needed her stock of Flyover People books refreshed and she did. This is the official Flyover People book outlet in Council Grove.

Dave and I bought some Fiestaware bowls here at Valerie’s Gifts and Such. Next time you’re in Council Grove, stop in and see Valerie. She’s a nice person and she has a good selection of gifts in her store.
