Unity Village, just east of Kansas City, Mo., was on our route to a wedding Dave and I attended a week ago. The fountains had been out of order and they raised money and fixed them, but the turn-on date was several days after we were there – on Sept. 9, the World Day of Prayer.

Here is the story of the fountains.

Unity Village is an incorporated city in Missouri. This is the world headquarters of Unity Church of Christianity.

Unity offers Silent Unity, which is a free 24-hour prayer service for anyone who calls or sends a prayer online.

  1. While I don’t subscribe to all of the beliefs stated on their site, it does seem like a wonderful place. How nice that they observe a world day of prayer and are willing to commit 24 hours of prayer to anyone who asks. Two things the world could use a little more of: unity and prayer. Add good architecture and you’ve got three things:o) Cool buildings!

  2. I’ve been going there for one thing or another since I was a child. (My parents’ Presbyterian church held meetings at UV sometimes, and I remember playing hide and seek among the shrubbery.) I even taught swimming in their beautiful, frigid spring-fed pool one summer. I’m grateful for all they do to keep it going and make it available to the community. It’s a haven of peace and beauty for all.
