My book Flyover People: Life on the Ground in a Rectangular State is also now available at Eighth Day Books in Wichita.

Eighth Day Books is in this huge and wonderful 3-story house at 2838 E. Douglas in Wichita. Inside are cubbyholes of books on wooden shelves. There are new books, used books, and it’s an eclectic mix of books:  “Classics in religion, literature, history and philosophy.”

The owner, Warren Farha, took a few minutes to look through my book. When he came back he said, “Thank you for loving Kansas.” And then he purchased some Flyover books for his shelves.

So, if you live in the Wichita area and are interested in the Flyover People book, it’s here. Or if you have friends or family in Wichita who might be interested, pass this on to them.

Books on music – the Beatles, Johnny Cash…

And upstairs is the Regional Book section, which, I would guess, is where the Flyover People book will be displayed.

My friend Jay Price was with me the other day and here are some of his books – in the regional section. He has put together history books using old photos of the area. Titles include: ElDorado, Wichita 1860-1930, Wichita’s Legacy of Flight, Wichita’s Lebanese Heritage and Cherokee Strip Land Rush.)

I already had all of Jay’s books in my personal library except his newest, Wichita’s Lebanese Heritage, which was also displayed on the front counter of Eighth Day Books – so I bought that book and had him and one of his co-authors sign it. His co-author, Victoria Sherry, happened to be right there since she works at Eighth Day.

Then Jay and I went to eat Lebanese food. Stay tuned for food photos from Bella Luna.

So – go to Eighth Day Books, it’s a fascinating bookstore – on many levels.

When you’re driving west on Douglas looking for Eighth Day Books and you see Hannah Banana, you’ll know you’ve gone too far…

Circle the block and head back to Eighth Day.

Additional Parking for Eighth Day Books is behind their building.
