Studio C

Clarine Knapp owns Studio C at 317 Commercial in downtown Emporia. It’s a loft studio, so there are some stairs.

I went for a haircut today. This was my first time at Studio C.

Other than occasional trims, I hadn’t had a new on-purpose style since… 2003? That’s when I had spiked hair (!) and that’s when I started growing it out. (After the spiky hair days and the subsequent miserable growing out of hair over the ears, I swore never ever to have short, short hair again.)

First, Clarine took time to discuss what I wanted done, she didn’t just sit me down in a chair and start whacking away. I showed her pictures and she asked questions. Then she washed my hair and the cutting began.

And the drying.

She pulled all the waviness out of the back when she dried it and then she flat-ironed it.

I think it looks longer in this picture than it really is. It’s just a tad below shoulder length.

It may not look like a big change to anyone else, but it’s a big change to me – it’s about five or six inches shorter (about 3-4 years worth of growth.)

She has this great chandelier. I don’t remember if it’s black or midnight blue, but it’s pretty cool.

Clarine gave me a great haircut. She listened to what I wanted and asked the right questions. So if you’re in need of a new stylist, I definitely recommend Clarine.

This is really just a nice, clean cut. My hair has a lot more spunk than before.
