Thank you, you beautiful people, each and every one, for your kind responses to my previous post.

Thank you for letting me know that you read this blog.

That it matters to you.

That you want more.

You have reaffirmed my purpose here.

And to the lurkers, it’s nice to know that you’ve been out there, too, reading along.

  1. He-hee-hee..! Youse gots wun sneekey way of finding out jus who reeds your “stuff”…. hahahahah..! Gotta have fun while ya can kids…!! Thanks also to Dave for all the sunflowers.. !!

  2. Cheryl, have you been lurking? I had a watery eye when I re read these comments in succession. Lindsey, Avis and Weeta… right on!

  3. I wasn’t trying to shake out the lurkers, but it has been heartwarming to know that they’re out there and also for me to realize that a number of people do find something of value on this site.

And Roger was right in his comments on the previous post, one of my goals from the beginning was to build an online community.

  4. I should have added April to the list who made comments about the impersonal aspect of other blogs. There have been some tragedies here, losses of family members, death of discussion board registrants. I thought the sympathies and support here was consoling and interpersonal unlike how we think of the internet. The internet can be so much more immediate, heartfelt and real like the old days in small town Kansas.

At the core, this site would have no merit and allegiance without the talents of Cheryl and Dave. All who fall into this net-web become better thinkers about our state, what it always has been, a town, an online town whether you know Kansas from personal passage or not. If you are from afar but here because it strikes a tone of accord in your being, you are a Kansan.

  5. Cheryl,
Rest assured there are probably many readers of your site, like myself, who don’t usually announce their presence but depend, or at least, look forward to reading or seeing what you and Dave have put on the site almost daily. It’s a part of my daily routine, I must admit.
As an Emporia native now living in Lindsborg, I enjoy having contact through you of the Emporia/Kansas scene. As a visual artist for forty years, I was inspired by the lovely, unique Flint Hills, the skies, most elements of our state. Now that I don’t travel much, I rely on you to keep my Kansas fires kindled…please know you and Dave are appreciated by many I would imagine…your site with all the links is a treasure. Please keep it going…Best, Steve Scott

  6. I already admitted I am a Lurker…….maybe you can direct me to a support group? As a Kansan by birth and heart I truly enjoy your site. I reside in Missouri now but get back to dear old Hartford quite a bit and dream of moving back!!!
