Sunday visitor hours begin in July at the William Allen White House State Historic Site, 927 Exchange St., with the site opening from 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. A special Sunday “Ice Cream on the Porch” will be from 3 to 5 p.m. this Sunday. People are invited to “come for a (free) scoop of ice cream and enjoy the gardens of the historic site in the tradition of William Allen White’s hospitality at his home.

It also calls to mind his being the host for an ice cream social when the wading pool at Peter Pan Park was opened in 1931,” stated the news release. Tours of the house also will be available from1 to 5 p.m. at a cost of $3 for adults and $1 for students. For more information, call site administrator Nick Gronseth at 342-2800.
