I dropped in at KTWU (public television) in Topeka yesterday. Dave Kendall and Bill Shaffer recorded me reading a piece about small towns. It is scheduled to air in mid-July.

Dave Kendall, usually seen wearing a hat, is host and executive producer of the always-popular Sunflower Journeys” series. He came to KTWU 20-some years ago to start the program and it’s been a hit since it began.

The short piece I recorded is for the pilot of a new series. It’s a community affairs program, the community being their viewing area – which extends west to about Abilene, northeast to St. Joe, Mo., southwest of Emporia and south to the Pittsburg and Coffeyville areas.

The new show will be aimed more toward viewer participation.

Stay tuned for updates here.

  1. Wonderful, Cheryl. Perhaps this is another “new beginning” for you. You certainly deserve to be known to all of Kansas and more too – You have so much to offer and you do it so well.

  2. Another reason to publish that book of collected writings. I want to see you on C-SPAN as well as KTWU.

  3. Great idea and good luck. Presumably it’ll escape to YouTube seconds after it’s broadcast so we can see it over here!
