… on the Porch – this Sunday, 2 p.m. … I’ll be reading a few of my poems.
From Roger Heineken:
Enjoy a glorious Sunday afternoon on the porch of the William Allen White House State Historic Site. Local poets coordinated by Dr. Kevin Rabas will read original poetry.
White’s first published book “Rhyme by Two Friends” (1893) with Albert Bigelow Paine was of poetry. We might even hear a little of White’s work.
Join us at 2 PM 927 Exchange St. Sunday, September 21st. The program is free and open to the public. Donations in support of the site are appreciated.
Pent-up poetry kicks it off
The autumn series nears
This Sunday come and take a seat
A spa day for the ears
Hear the words of budding bards
Inspired by who knows what
A balmy day of sharing words
A porch of friends and thought
Very nice, Roger. You’ll have to read that on Sunday.
Gee, thank you Cheryl, for your kind words about my rhyming thoughts
I do believe that what I wrote would set a tone for naught
Others read their words to lead the listener along
To hear and feel what the reader spins will satisfy the throng
It will be words that make this day with friendly ears to hear
This event will come and go until another year
