A tribute to William Allen White who spent his youth in El Dorado. White was born in Emporia in 1868 and grew up in El Dorado. He attended the College of Emporia and the University of Kansas and worked for the Kansas City Star. In 1895, he purchased The Emporia Gazette.
William Allen White’s home in Emporia is a Kansas State Historic Site.
