Walgreens

Walgreens opened in Emporia last Friday. It’s at the corner of 15th and Industrial - which makes it a good quarter-mile closer than Wal-Mart. And, you don’t have to park a block from the store like you do at Wal-Mart. And, you don’t have to step foot in Wal-Mart. Three benefits right there.
I didn’t go in, just drove by and took the picture - I’m not that excited about Walgreens - other than the fact that it’s not, well, you know….

I’m not a big Walgreen’s fan either——-but on Sunday Hubby had to go to Southerlands & with my MCS—–I don’t enter Southerlands with all those chemical smells!!!!!!!! So Hubby dumped me off at Walgreens—while he went to Southerlands–& when he returned for me——I had a cart full!!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess I’m a bigger Walgreens fan than I thought!!!!!
I’ll have to check the Walgreens in Emporia sometime when I’m up there. I do have to say though, I cannot find it in my heart to dislike Walmart. I understand the arguments, but also realize that there are people who couldn’t afford glasses without Walmart.
They also, I feel, saved my husband’s life with their free blood sugar test they were offering one day.
They are also a sort of safe haven for travellers. Road trips are safer and a whole lot more comfortable because of the availability of Walmart.
Sorry, I know I’m not taking the popular side of the walmart argument, but I see it from a different angle.

Right on! We only have WalMart in Colby. We have to go to Hays or Garden City to get to a Walgreens or Target (in Garden City). Maybe if we had a choice, I wouldn’t object to WalMart so much! Yep, you have to park a block from the door and at our particular store, I don’t think we have enough handicapped people in all of NW Kansas to use that many handicapped spots! I’ll look forward to visiting Walgreens when I’m in Emporia (this weekend). I’m not a cheer leader for Walgreens, but it’s nice not to have to go the extra distance plus a choice in who gets my money is nice!
Cheryl—— I just read these interesting facts about Wal-Mart——
it makes Wallgreens look even better each day!

Interesting. Don’t care much for their business practices.
But it’s more than that, too. I just feel icky in the store - I can’t get out of there quick enough.
When I do go (once a month), I try to go early on Sunday mornings when it’s empty, but still I feel claustrophobic - even though it’s a Super Center, and plenty big.
Maybe it’s the lighting, or maybe it’s just TOO MUCH STUFF, or maybe it’s just bad Wal-Mart vibes in the place.
Another place that bothers me is Hobby Lobby - but that’s just because it’s full of busy/clashy home decor.
