Volland
Just to the south of the Skyline-Mill Creek Road is the ghost town of Volland.
Dan Fitzgerald, in his book “Ghost Towns of Kansas, A Traveler’s Guide,” writes that this brick building was built in 1913. He says that this and the wooden building across the street were general stores. In its heyday, Volland was a cattle-shipping point on the Rock Island Railroad.
Volland is in Wabaunsee County.

The town’s not totally abandoned, there are several well-kept houses in Volland.
We found Anna Surface’s photos of Volland posted on Sunday morning. If Anna and Preston Surface were there on Saturday, we may have missed seeing each other by minutes.

Boy, the masonry of that building looks to be in great shape considering the roof is tuckered out.

Maybe stone roofs are the way to go.
I was thinking the same thing Roger. I bet a person could go in and rebuild the inside, with enough lumber and nails, a few screws and appliances. Could be a cool home.
