Union Station

How did that light pole get in this photo? … Well, anyway, this is the beautifully restored 1914 Union Station in KCMO. Big place. Huge.

How did that fountain get in the way? This is a beautiful fountain in front of Union Station and just down the hill from Liberty Memorial (which would’ve been nice to tour if we hadn’t already walked ourselves weary.)

I knew that Union Station would be a topic unto itself. Are the bullet holes still visible? My Art professor, Walter Yost, was there the day of the shoot out in the 30s.
Bullet holes will be mentioned in the next post.
A two-parter!
I thought the Bodies Revealed showing had left KC and was now in Wichita.
Wow! My teacher was a student at KU in those years of the shoot out. He also knew J. S. Curry and worked for a shot time in the summer on Mount Rushmore with Borghlum even though Gutzon was a member of the KKK.
Yost painted the diorama background for the La Brea Tar Pit exhibit in the KU Dyche Museum of Natural History. I think he painted other things there but I don’t remember what the exhibits are.
