Today in E-town

About 2 inches of snow fell today. The streets were slick for a while, but the city treated the main roads in town.

Gas was down to $1.89 the other day. Now it’s selling for $2.09.

Safeway Pet Foods over on the west edge of town has been sold to American Nutrition, a company based in Utah.

The construction on Walgreen’s is moving right along. It will be taking up a corner of the mall’s parking lot at 15th and Industrial. Guess they didn’t want to use the huge, empty, former Food-4-Less store that is 30 yards away.

  1. Many Walgreen’s are often open 24/7.

  2. It’s really hard to get excited about a new chain business coming to town because that usually means the demise of hometown businesses.

  3. Walgreen’s is a Kansas chain, if I remember correctly. Lesser of two evils.
