Tiger, Joey, & The Carpenters
It’s 5 a.m. on a Saturday. Why am I up? Cat.
I let Tiger out at 3:15, couldn’t go back to sleep.
So, I got out of bed at 4, ate some oatmeal, dinked around on the computer, watched the end of a Dawson’s Creek episode, the one where Joey and her mugger sing “Close to You” as he’s dying in a hospital bed.
OK, they don’t sing the song very well because, well, he’s dying … because he ran in front of a car after he stole her money and has some major chest injury, and Joey’s voice is kind of weak, because, well, the dying guy is kind of a junkie jerk and her dad was a junkie jerk and, after all, it’s a weird situation, singing “Close to You” to your mugger in a hospital room.
Those Carpenters, they had some classic songs though, didn’t they?
Now, the decision…. do I stay up? Or try to get some more sleep? It’s dark. It’s cold. I’m gonna try for more sleep.
Later, dudes.

Our cats had races across our bodies again this morning, but it was a bit more reasonable, about 6:15.
I hope you got back to sleep and slept well. Sometimes those wee hour things are kinda fun, if you can write or draw or whatever. Sometimes they’re just annoying.
Roger helped me with perspective on that, and learning that helped me learn to sleep better too. I owe ya Roger.
