Summer haters…

… close your ears, or skip this post and take a moment to visit someone else’s blog.

Because - yay, the grass is green and trees have leaves! Did you realize that for only half of the year, half of our lives, trees have leaves?

From mid-October to mid-April, most trees in Kansas are leafless! Sigh.

We spend six months of each year in a cold, greenless world.

But, now, now, now is the time that trees have leaves! Rejoice!

Yeah, it’s hot, but I like to think of the great outdoors as a sweatlodge: my body is ridding itself of toxins.

And now is the season of sales on paper and pens! During the back-to-school season, I stock up on my writing supplies, especially spiral notebooks, of which I am a large consumer.

Staples has them six for 30 cents, that’s 5 cents each.

So, yay, Staples! So as to not only take advantage of their bargains, I bought some scissors and a couple of other things at regular price. (And I always buy anything I can at Staples instead of Wal-Mart - computers, printers, ink, etc.)

And, the people at our Staples store have always been pleasant and helpful.

Let the writing begin!

  1. It IS that time of the year! Buying school supplies is just exciting–and to see what’s new–oh, divine! Like the highlighters that also have little bitty post-it notes/page markers right on the pen…what a great idea that is! –and folders are on sale and gluesticks–2/$! I, too, love Staples. I bought a ball of different colored rubber bands (I need them for my notecards.) ..sometimes you don’t really know what you need until you go shopping!

  2. I bought two cylinders of silver and gold spring-clips at Staples a year ago. They are indispensable! I use them for a second set of hands to secure a straight edge when I’m cutting foam core board. I use them on my clipboard when I’m doing step-on guide work for bus day trips. I can attach my route map to the back of the clipboard while my script and clock are on the front. Great things from Staples. I hope Mitt Romney appreciates this plug from a Democrat.

  3. See, I should have been a teacher. I just love paperclips. Postit notes are very cool too. Oh, and rubber bands are just wonderful.

I love going to Staples. Oh yea, that reminds me, Staplers are great fun!
