Mush!
Despite the threat of tornadoes yesterday and snow today, Emporia received neither.
This week’s forecast temperatures are in the 50s. We may get another snowfall this season, although I think the heaviness and bitter cold of winter is over. Hallelujah!
But, in the Great White North, winter remains. And it’s a good thing I guess, ’cause the dogs are gonna need some snow for the Iditarod which begins this Saturday, March 3.
The Iditarod covers 1,100 miles of extreme landscape and those sled dogs consume up to 10,000 calories a day. It must be an incredible adventure.
My brother and his wife (Leon and Margaret Unruh) have created a website for veteran Iditarod musher, Frank Sihler. This morning Leon sent me a link to the site. Take a look at these gorgeous dogs and learn a little about their upcoming journey.
