Those are very beautiful. I was watching a thing on tv yesterday about why the leaves turn red. It was interesting. They don’t exactly know. They said they have to actively do something to turn red, that it isn’t just a fading of the leaves. And that they think the red might act as some kind of sun shield to protect the tree.
My grandson’s class in California had a Fall project. They asked people all over to send dried leaves, one or two, and they were going to cover a map with them.
I sent a redbud leaf and three picture of it. One in SUmmer with all its leaves, one in Spring full of blossoms, and one in Winter after an ice storm. Very dramatic differences in that tree throughout the seasons. Kids in Southern California along the coast don’t get much in the way of seasons, so I thought they might enjoy seeing those pictures.
Oohhh! What a great school project. I think the leaf map would be beautiful, and your inclusion of the photos showing the tree in the different seasons is great for giving context. Having grown up in southern CA myself, I didn’t experience four seasons til I moved inland.
Would you believe one of my dogwoods is currently _blooming_!!! What a weird year.
