Readings on the Porch

Thurs. 6/28 - 7 p.m. - The Last Year and Death of the Sage of Emporia

Location: William Allen White House State Historic Site, 927 Exchange.

Featuring Amy Sage Webb of the ESU English Department. She will read the eulogy Henry Haskell delivered at White’s funeral in February 1944 at Kenyon Hall on the College of Emporia Campus

Limited seating is available. It is encouraged that participants bring a lawn chair. Those who wish may take their lawn chair on to the 8 p.m. Emporia Municipal Band Concert in Fremont Park at 4th Ave. and Exchange St. The historic site porch is ADA accessible and restrooms are available in the visitor center on-site. In case of rain, the program will be held in the visitor center.

Free, but donations happily accepted.

7:30 p.m. - Opening Act: Callie Agler Chambliss, formerly of Emporia, and her husband Micahel Chambliss.

8:15 p.m. - Featuring internationally known Kelley Hunt, Roots R&B/Americana singer/songwriter/piano player, formerly of Emporia

Wed. July 4 - 10 a.m. Parade - Commercial Street, downtown Emporia

9 a.m. - 3 p.m. - Street Festival Downtown. Food, entertainment, arts and crafts

9:30 p.m. - Fireworks - Lyon County Fairgrounds
