For Sale
In Florence recently, Dave and friend Tom Haskett visited this old school turned bed & breakfast turned empty building. It’s a beautiful place inside with hardwood floors. And it’s for sale.
Florence is in Marion County, has about 650 people and is “Nestled in a Valley of Opportunity.”

Ohhhh, I’d love that. But I can’t afford it for one thing. For the other, I don’t want to pay to heat and AC it. But what a gorgeous building.
If I fall right into a million dollars………………..
I was surprised to see my picture of our tour last week. This old school was really a pleasant surprise. The open space of the building was a nice feature. There are so many surprises in the Flinthills.
Chase County lake is really a gem of a place. So many different plants and nature. Thanks Dave for the tour!
I know Linda & her now ex-husband —-who remodeled the old school & made the B & B many years ago- as I bought a small cottage from them & made an antique shop out of it at that time in Florence— I started “Sonda’s Cottage Of Treasures” there an antique shop!
Linda had never owned a business before & never a B & B & didn’t do well as she had no clue about running or promoting a business!
She did a wonderful job of remodeling the old school house—-it is just beautiful–or was the last time I was in it– & when she started on it the school had all broken out windows & pigeon poop ankle deep all through out the school & a bad roof—etc.etc—- —-but they put all their money into the remodel job & then had no business—— & didn’t know how to bring the business in to them or promote them selves!
I think if She had taken a coarse on running a business & had a business plan -etc/etc/etc—- & had a business phone so people could have made reservations—–etc.etc—– & if she had taken credit cards- etc/etc—- she might have made it———But Florence is a town you really have to work to bring business to –as I well know!!!!!!!!
It would take a lot of work to build a B & B business back there again!
It truly is a miracle to see what they started with & all the work they have done on it–but it has been on the market for sale for years- it has sold two ot three times & then back on the market again——–but has sat empty longer than any one has been in it ever!!!!!!!!!!!
