OK, the land looks flat, but there were slight rises in the earth here and there.

Western Kansas has sand roads, not the killer chert like we have here in the Flint Hills- stuff you’d never walk on with bare feet, not willingly anyhow.

Hmm. I’m seeing a similarity in these photos. Maybe it is flat out there. But we found land even flatter than this – in Haskell County.

Anyway, isn’t it great, this long view to the edge of the earth?

Another thing – no trees. Not many, anyway, in this semi-arid climate.

  2. After my boyfriend went to Kansas for the first time he realized why I felt claustrophobic in Florida. He didn’t realize how wide open it is up there.
