John Crisp of Shepherd’s Valley tells about his huge garden which provides food to shareholders, about 90-100 families. Shepherd’s Valley is a CSA, Community Supported Agriculture. The farm is along Kahola Creek, northwest of Americus.

The food grown here is “organic or beyond organic,” Crisp said. The government keeps dropping its standards for organic food, Crisp says, so he stays above those standards.

I had the chance to ride out to Shepherd’s Valley today with Tracy and two of her munchkins. John gave us a tour of the place: vegetables, chickens, turkeys, sheep, a tree house. What fun!

Stay tuned, I’ll be posting more on Shepherd’s Valley in the days to come.

  1. I love seeing pictures of our FOPers and their environments. It makes us all human to each other rather than just a bunch of words on a screen.

That’s a wonderful garden. I know they work hard there.
