Bunge

Here’s a look at our soybean plant, Bunge (pronounced BUN-jee) North America.  It’s on East Sixth in Emporia.

    This is where the old MKT rail depot stood. In 1898, the Buffalo Bill Cody Wild West Show performed there as did the Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus many times.

    The pronunciation. I hear it both BUN-jee, and BUN-gee (hard G long e sound.)

    Frankly, the spelling I thought would leave the e silent and just be Bung, but of course when it comes to names, they’re pronounced as they are, period.)

    I used to see that place from my back yard when we lived there. We could hear the guy up on a tower giving directions.
