another fountain

One of many fountains in Kansas City. This is the JC Nichols Memorial Fountain near the Country Club Plaza.

  1. A WikiList of KC fountains:

  2. Cheryl, in the top picture, in the background there is a round, white building that looks very old and ornate, and tall and thin. It looks unlikely where it appears to be sitting. It looks like part of a church cathedral or something. There are two modern looking buildings, one on each side of it.

Did you get any pictures of that white, ornate building? Do you know what it is?

  3. It is part of the Country Club Plaza development which was patterned after Seville, Spain. It should be a commercial building.

  4. Janet - no close-ups of that particular building in Country Club Plaza, so I don’t know what it is.

  5. Yep, this is my old neighborhood. I lived in the Villa Serena which later became the Raphael Hotel. It was a delightful existence and right across Brush Creek from where I walked to work for Ed Tanner Architects who did all the work for J.C. Nichols. Those were carefree days for sure.

  6. Emporian Alan Tollakson has been creating decorative stone replacement architectural pieces for the J. C. Nichols House restoration project.
