Amanda’s opened for business on Monday morning. Dave ate lunch there on Monday and told me his sandwich was very good. And he was in there yesterday for coffee and he reported business had been great – so great that they were running out of food late in the day.

I’ll go in and take pictures of the place soon and will post them.

Speaking of pictures, Dave’s photographs decorate the interior. His Rainbow picture is a huge mural behind the counter. And some of his other Kansasy photos hang on the walls.

  1. I’ll have to go up and meet Larry for lunch soon. I think I’ll have a roast beef sandwich, half a one.

    Thanks for posting the menu.

Looking forward to seeing the pictures.

  2. I had the “panini of the month”. At the moment its chicken, bacon with a dried tomato pesto dressing (something like that). It was very very good. I also tried one of the fruit bowls which had blueberries, mangos, kiwi… I was too busy eating it to keep track. The bread is really good.
I’ll swap out one or two of the photos with some sunflowers in the next week. I think they’ll fit in better than one or two that I have now.

  3. ALRIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND BLESS THEIR HEARTS THEY HAVE SOMETHING FOR VEGETARAINS TO EAT!!!!!!!!!!!!
The hours will be hard for us to try them——–but we will as soon as we can!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. I tried the Knock Out Veggie on opening day. Yum! Truly a robust sandwich. LOVE the Sunflower Wheat bread! I’m looking forwardd to trying the rest of the menu…

All this week, the joint’s been hoppin’ around lunch time. So great to see something this good going on downtown. The fact that it’s just upstairs from my office is a delight! All those yummy smells drifting downstairs…

    Woohoo!!!!

It’s been fun watching the space convert from retail to food, and they’ve done a truly beautiful job with decoration. Of course the photos on the walls are the highlight – goes- without saying- no wait, I said it – OK, whatever…

It’s great food in great surroundings. For sure- check it out ASAP! Yum!

  5. When would be a good time to go? I think I’m taking my fellow coaches there tomorrow for lunch, but we have limited time…….I wonder what’s the dessert for tomorrow? …..maybe I’ll just start with dessert. I really want to try the panini!

  6. So glad to hear they are doing so well——-& I hope it will continue for them as there is a real need for a good healthy eating place in Emporia!
I hope we can try them soon!

  7. The ranch hand turkey was delicous! Place was busy and lost of people coming in when I was leaving. The Ultimate Brownie is in the fridge. I promised my wife I’d stay out of it until she gets home. Not sure I can wait. lol.

  8. We did eat there today and it was great! Dave’s photos are fantastic, the atmosphere is marvelous and the food–I had panini and the unique and decadent dessert–pear something–with ice cream. They were certainly busy. “the New Kid” must have been there before we were, because the “ultimate brownie” was GONE!

  9. So IS Amandas upstairs or down? I was thinking I read somewhere or heard that it was upstairs but the pictures look ground level. I am entertaining the idea of coming over for lunch tomorrow, but will have to see how things are going at home first. Gotta check the Grandma schedule and see when, if and how many grandkids I may need to pick up from school.
