Not all is abandoned in Dunlap. There’s a well-kept Methodist Church here.

The air was so still, the town so quiet, that I could hear a jet scraping the sky overhead. I hadn’t heard the sound of a jet in the sky for a long time.

Last night, Dave and I went to a chili and soup supper at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. This snow-packed sunflower added a bit of Kansas Day to the event.

I went for the potato soup while Dave enjoyed the chili.

In my little hometown of Pawnee Rock, there’s a new church, the House of Flames.
The sign says: House of Flames, Church Sunday 10 a.m., and Eagles Nest Ministries.

I didn’t see a sign in front of this church in Albert (pop. 176) in Barton County, so I don’t know if services are still held here.

As is their Thanksgiving tradition, the members of the Church of Christ in Emporia put on a feast for anyone who wants it. There’s no donation bucket – it’s an annual service the church provides to the community.
