Here’s a link to my commentary this morning on Kansas Public Radio. I tell about my first onstage appearance, age 5, at a Christmas Eve Program at the Bergthal Mennonite Church in Pawnee Rock.

  1. Thank you, Cheryl. This is very moving and inspiring; a reminder to quietly put someone else before ourselves. It’s what it’s all about, isn’t it?
I hope you enjoyed your hiatus, but I’m glad your’e back.

  2. Loved listening to your story. The part about your family living in Santa Fe box cars after they arrived in Pawnee Rock is of interest as I’ve read other stories about how folks from Europe would find things when they settled on the prairies. My great grandfather was an indentured servant from Bern, Switzerland, who was sponsored by a Swiss Mennonite family living in Whitewater. He and my great grandmother were the first to be married in the then newly established Swiss Mennonite Church in Whitewater, which is still there and active.
