Cemetery Pump

The water pump at the Pawnee Rock Cemetery.

It’s now an armless pump. Even when it had all its limbs, this was a tough old bird to get water out of. A kid could pump for a long time before a weak stream of water came up – and it wasn’t very good water.  Now downtown, at the lumberyard, there was a nice shiny-red water pump, plenty of water and good tasting, too.
