Sommerset Hall Cafe

Sommerset

Along K-4 in Dover (Shawnee County), you’ll find Sommerset Hall Cafe. Dave and I passed through Dover on Saturday, and yeah, we stopped for pie. My mom and I came here in September, but this was Dave’s first visit.

We got there about 1:30 p.m. and had the place to ourselves.

I had a piece of Norma Grubb’s famous coconut cream pie. Very good.

pie

And yes, the pie and cookies and BBQ are catching up with me. I stepped on a scale yesterday and yikes… Well, I guess my foot is appropriately healed now. Time to get back with the exercise program; time to cut back on most of the sweets.

cobbler

Dave went with the peach cobbler.

You’re going to cut back on sweets during the winter holiday season…yeah, right. (If you succeed I will be so jealous…)

Wait and see. :-) I hope to lose 7 pounds by the end of January.

OMG! Good thing I don’t live closer to those pies, I’d make her grand total go up very, very fast. They look just Grandma Ruby’s!

My goodness! How far is Dover from Emporia? I’m going to have to get out my map. Coconut Cream Pie is my favorite. Tom & Ginger – is this between us. LOL!

I should have looked it up before I commented. We have been through Dover several times, as Millard has an aunt at Auburn and we come home different ways. Our eyes just don’t see things like Cheryl and Dave’s do.

Oh I see. I had to look it up too. You can get there from 99 by turning off at Eskridge.

    What?? No chocolate?

I had chocolate last time, Ray, figured I’d better try the prize-winning pie this go-round.
