PR- House of Flames

In my little hometown of Pawnee Rock, there’s a new church, the House of Flames.

The sign says: House of Flames, Church Sunday 10 a.m., and Eagles Nest Ministries.

Whoa, ya gotta wonder…….. I’d like to be a fly on the wall for one of their services. Well, unless it gets to hot. I don’t do heat well.

I wonder too. You could go so many directions with a name like that. Perhaps it’s a pentecostal church and “flames” refers to “cloven tongues like as of fire” (Acts 2:3). Maybe it’s like heaping coals of fire on an enemies head as spoken of in Romans 12:20. That was a good thing in that culture. You might give someone hot coals to start their own fire and they would be carried home in a basket on their head, warming them as they walked. Giving your enemy food or drink was similar–perhaps a church focused on good deeds. Then again it could just be a fire and brimstone preachin’ kind of place. I think I like the other two options better.

Or Satan worshippers, certainly makes one wonder.

Considering it’s Pawnee Rock and the services are on Sunday, I’d go with the pentecostal idea. Odd looking sort of place, the roof is barn-shaped.
