pajamas

As I walked past this storefront (Arizona Trading Post) last Saturday in Lawrence, I stopped. I noticed the fabric that they used as a table cloth. The coloring, the theme, was similar to a pair of pajamas I had when I was a kid. I think my brother had a matching pair. Those pj’s had snaps down the front of the long-sleeved shirt and elastic-waisted sleeping pants.

The colors in the pajama were lighter, and more yellowish-brown, and the figures were a lot smaller than here. But yeah, I had cowboy pajamas – and I loved those things. The snaps made them seem even more Western to me, but the snaps were probably there because the manufacturers didn’t think that goofy little kids could button buttons.

And yeah, we played Cowboys and Indians when I was a kid – because that’s what kids played in the 1960s.

  1. Chills… my little bro had these same pyjamas… Nova Scotia, 1968ish… well, that’s a memory I wasn’t expecting.

    Fine pyjamas though.

  2. Josh had a red cowboy pajama shirt that I bought at a garage sale when he was little. It didn’t have the pants to go with it, so he wore it with other pajama pants. It was his favorite thing and he was so sad when it got too small to wear. It was also pretty worn out by that time. I cut one of the good sections out and made a shirt for one of his teddy bears, and that seemed to ease the pain of not having his favorite pj top to wear any more.
