Yes, Pluto was demoted. I didn’t know it belonged to Kansas. sigh……

My father used to talk about Pluto. He built a telescope and we used to look through it at the moon, etc. It was a great thing, and kids from the neighborhood used to visit to look through it. Astronomy was his hobby. We couldn’t see Pluto with it, of course. But no matter, the mystery of space was exciting and scary and awe inspiring.

I wonder who stole Pluto from Mullinville. What a scoundrel!

BTW, thanks for putting up these pictures. I never tire of roadside/yard art.

Pluto was discovered by Clyde Tombaugh of Burdette, Kansas.

Maybe Liggett’s “Pluto” wasn’t stolen, perhaps he was making a statement.

Thanks for the link Cheryl. I think I knew that sometime back, but forgot. Without Pluto, what will Kansas do? Why don’t we declare Pluto for Kansas and sell acreage on Pluto? Doesn’t have to be a planet. It can just be a deeply meaningful celestial body.

I left part out. Kansas sells acreage on Pluto, then charges property tax. Maybe we could get our own property tax rates lowered if people on Pluto were paying property tax.

I loved that Janet… “Doesn’t have to be a planet. It can just be a deeply meaningful celestial body.”

Pluto is our deeply meaningful celestial body. :-)

M.T. Liggett’s work fascinates me. I always wonder what it means. Some things are easy to figure out, but most bewilder me. I think he likes to keep people guessing.
