Kansas Dragon

August 6th, 2008 at 7:15 am

On K-18 just outside Beverly is one of Jim Dickerman’s creations: Dream Dragon IV, I believe. This sculpture is also mention on Roadside America. And here’s Dave’s photo of the critter.

“Wonder why all those dead limbs are under it,” I muttered. ”It’s a nest,”Dave said. That’s why I take Dave along. He’s smart.

Very, VERY cool. All his work. I hope to get to stop and see his stuff before long.

Aha! An explanation for the limbs! Dave *is* smart. I’ve got a picture of that dragon from my trip out that way, but I don’t think it’s as good. I caught two other hard to find critters by the same artist along the way–both by accident as I was taking pictures of the buildings they sat atop.

I just checked out Dave’s photo. The dragon is much scarier from that angle. Those eyes!
