A close-up

Rog requested a close-up of the circus material, so here it is.

Somewhere I have my kindergarten photo – in which I was wearing this dress, but I can’t find it right off. You know, I’ve always been kind of cluttery, but I had the advantage of knowing exactly where everything was. Now, sadly, I’m just cluttery.

Cute fabric. I hope you find that picture. I’d love to see it. What a gift your Gramma gave you by preserving that dress in a quilt.

Cats appear prominently in the fabric design. Could it be?

I think the “crazy” quilts are more difficult to make–is that stitch called the “fencerow?”–or something like that? It’s not the chain stitch. (I’ll have to look it up in my stitch book….
My dear sweet grandma made quilts for me–one, in particular, was made from scraps from all the dresses my mother made for us three girls and it was so fun to look–and point out to my daughters–who wore what! She also made a yellow “wedding ring” quilt that I loved…..I found just little pieces of my quilts after the fire, but I REMEMBER them! She also, before she died, made quilts for my daughters. She had a quilt rack set up all the time at her house (where my brother lives now).
