The Unruh girls

I rearranged my morning plans when I found out my cousin’s daughters were going to be at the WAW Book Awards today. Meet Ivy, 9, and Laramie, 11. They belong to Laramie and Michelle Unruh.

The Valley Center school selected Ivy and Laramie to attend the event today. The girls had to get up pretty early (5:30) this morning to travel to Emporia.

When I found Ivy and Laramie again at 12:30 p.m., after they had paraded with the other 900 children to the WLW Auditorium, I asked them each individually what their favorite part of the day had been. “Meeting the authors,” each one responded. They were both fond of Andrew Clements who won the award for his book, “The Report Card.”

Beautiful girls! I think Laramie looks a lot like Cheryl….and Ivy has my older daughter’s blue eyes and red hair (we must be related!). Cheryl, you must be glad they were here and you interviewed them (!) and proud of them! …a great day in Emporia when the Unruhs come to town!
