Neosho Falls, Kansas

The Last Resort... (now the Oasis)

Inside the Last Resort tavern

(Update: the bar is reopened and is
now called The Oasis - 13 Apr '09)

In the tavern, Rowdy, the dog, snuck in and is herded outside.

The Last Resort appeared to be the only active business in town. They sell beer and pop, chips and microwaveable sandwiches. A sign behind the bar states, "The bank don't sell beer and we don't cash checks."

Three guys were drinking beer when we walked in. (One camera-shy man sat beside me at the far table. "You're safe here," I assured him, "Dave won't put me in the photo.")

The woman tending bar told us that it was the flood of '51 that caused the town's decline in population. The school closed in the '60s and kids went to Yates Center.
