Burns is a small town that has its second wind. Located along Kansas Highway 77, this community in southwestern Marion County has a population of about 278. People, that is. The place also has more than 40 painted concrete roosters.

We arrived in Burns on a Saturday afternoon and the Burns Cafe and Bakery had already closed for the day and the Buffalo Gulch Ranch House had not yet opened for the Saturday night gatherings.

	Burns is a clean place. And quiet -- but we hit town when everything was closed.
