Community volunteer, Leola Neuschafer, stands in the doorway of the Hope Museum. Even though she's about to close for the day, she gives us a tour. "The building used to be a Baptist Church," she said. "Then the Masons had it for their meetings. It sat empty for a long time." Recently, interest in the museum has increased. Many items have been donated by local residents. Inside is a display from the J.K. Lay and Son Grocery store which served Hope from 1918 to 1978. One of the pump organs came to Hope from Germany 150 years ago. The town also has a presidential history -- President Eisenhower's parents lived in Hope for awhile. |
